How Many Times A Week Should I Train Football?
It's important to put the extra work in so you can shine on game day... and get noticed above the rest.

For ambitious players, deciding how much effort to put into your training for maximum results is a key decision.

If you don’t train often enough, you can’t hope to reach the elite level or your full potential. If you train too much, you risk injury which can set you back for months or even years. Overtraining and neglecting rest can also make you forget why you started this journey in the first place - for the love of the game!

However, one thing is absolutely certain:

Unless you are part of a professional club who organise your daily training for you, you need to use your free time to train if you want to make it to the elite level.

This is a widely accepted fact in the world of football. If you are part of an amateur team, your team training sessions will be covered. But if you want to reach the next level, the gains you make in your footwork, agility, fitness, dexterity and ball skills are down to you.

Training with a friend can be key to making progress. We show you how in our courses.

The truly ambitious players don’t have to be forced to put the work in, it’s just part of their routine. It’s part of their lifestyle. They know they won’t make it pro without it.

So the big question is, how much training is optimal for your success?

A weekly schedule for massive results.

We have put together the following weekly schedule for ambitious players. It takes into account footwork, agility, fitness, dexterity, ball skills, conditioning and all-important rest.

Note: this plan has been made for a player who trains once a week with their team, and has a match on Sunday. If you train on a different days or multiple days, simply swap out the days for yourself.

Monday - Light recovery, swim or relaxed jog, 20 minutes.

Tuesday - Focused dexterity and ball control session with Elite-Level Cone Drills, 30 minutes followed by HIIT training, 30 minutes.

Wednesday - Team Training

Thursday - Focused situational training with a partner and 1v1 Mastery, 30 minutes followed by strength training, 30 minutes.

Friday - Day Off

Saturday - Light cardio, swim or relaxed jog, 20 minutes + stretching for 15 minutes. If you want to work extra hard on your ball control, spend an extra 20 minutes with Footwork Mastery.

Sunday - Matchday

If you set yourself a 30-day challenge and stick to this routine, you will see incredible results in your fitness, skills and performance on match day. You will stand out above the rest, and that’s how you get recognised. Those that put the effort in get the rewards. Those that put in average work will end up just like everyone else.
